The PowerPoint provides an overview of the origins of Behaviorism and Applied Behavior Analysis.  It should not be considered a course that would allow you to apply the techniques of any intervention; however it is one of many foundational pieces which you will find on this website which will help you understand what to look for in quality intervention and if you wish to learn to become an ABA therapist, it will provide you some of the basics that you need to know.

No online course is sufficient to teach anyone everything they need to know to provide therapy or intervention.  While you can learn a great deal online, you must also have the opportunity to put what you learn to practice and be observed by and receive feedback from a well trained professional expert in the model of intervention you are learning.

One of the common limitations I have seen from many who call themselves professionals is their limited understanding of the therapy or model they are attempting to implement.

What you will learn from the PowerPoint as well as another PowerPoint on this site on writing Contextually Mediated Measurable Behavioral Objectives, is how much there really is to know and do in order to really provide a high quality service for the individual and usually their family.

For children, quality intervention will always extensively involve their family, be it their natural parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents or whoever makes up their particular family to often include siblings, extended family and other care providers.

This website is also for experienced therapists who want to provide even better intervention for the individuals they work with.  There are many links throughout the site that will allow you to make comments and discuss issues.  Please make use of these resources; however, please do not divulge any confidential information.
